Yeovil Hospital and Interserve Prime have established an exciting new partnership which will enable the hospital to improve care for local people by developing its estate and buildings.
After a detailed bidding process the hospital has selected Interserve Prime Solutions (IP) as its long-term, strategic estates partner in a joint venture LLP.
The 15 year agreement, signed earlier this month, will see IP work with the Hospital Trust to improve its existing estate and develop new facilities which support its plans for accessible, safe and more integrated care.
Established as a joint venture between international support services and construction group, Interserve, and specialist health and social care property company Prime, IP brings together specialists in healthcare planning and design, development, construction and finance.
The partnership’s initial focus will be on developing plans to help the hospital deliver its estates master plan – creating a more accessible hospital for patients and visitors, improved car parking and a modern health campus with the aim of enabling better co-ordination of a range of services from a single location.
Paul Mears, Chief Executive for Yeovil Hospital, said:
“We’re excited about the opportunities which this new partnership will offer. The expertise and experience of Interserve Prime Solutions will enable us to begin delivering on our aspirations to make ours a truly modern hospital, somewhere which is not only more accessible and functional, but which also facilitates a more collaborative approach to health and care.
“This is a long term partnership and we look forward to discussing our early plans with local people, patients and partners as they develop during the coming months.”
Dougie Sutherland, Executive Director at Interserve plc, said:
“We look forward to working in partnership with Prime and Yeovil Hospital to help deliver outstanding infrastructure and services for hospital patients and staff, as well as providing the expertise and resources to help the Trust make the most of its estate.”
Leighton Chumbley, Managing Director of Prime plc said:
“We are excited to be working with Yeovil Hospital, helping to deliver high quality facilities that are centred on patient-need and supporting the Trust to make its estate work better for the local community.”
This is the second estates partnership of its kind for IP. In May this year, University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust appointed IP as its long term commercial estates development partner – a ground-breaking model for the acute sector, which sees IP working with the Trust to design, build, finance and operate a host of new facilities to enhance the hospital experience for patients and visitors.
