A landmark community hub facilitated by Prime plc has been recognised as an inspirational development after being shortlisted in a prestigious national awards scheme.
Sparkbrook Community Hub, a £12 million project integrating a community and health centre and new build church, has been shortlisted in the ‘Community Benefit’ category of the RICS West Midlands Awards.
The landmark, 4,837 sqm development is the first joint health and council building in the city and is home to a variety of new facilities including three GP practices, community dental and physiotherapy services, a Customer Service Centre and six offices for start-up social enterprises and local businesses.
Located in the heart of Sparkbrook, the project also involved the construction of a new church, comprising worship space, community areas for hire, a Peace Garden and community café.
The project demonstrates the successful partnership between the project’s five key stakeholders – Heart of Birmingham Teaching Primary Care Trust, Birmingham City Council, the Diocese of Birmingham, local LIFTCo Birmingham and Solihull LIFT and private sector partner Prime.
Commenting on the news, Ewan Forsyth, Development Director at Prime said: “Sparkbrook Community Hub is a landmark project that demonstrates how through a shared vision and multi-stakeholder approach, public and private sector organisations can work together to create an integrated facility of real benefit to the local community.”
