Two GP surgeries serving the people of Wednesbury could soon have new premises, providing high quality facilities and improved access to essential health and social care services.
The two GP practices – Malling Health and The Spires Health Centre – have been working with the Black Country NHS Cluster and healthcare developer Prime to progress plans for the new facility. Outline planning permission was granted in April this year, securing the use of the site for a new health centre, which is next to the existing leisure centre and on the site of Malling Health’s temporary building.
Following the approval of outline planning permission earlier this year, the design and development team involved in progressing the proposed health centre is asking the local community to have their say in the design process and services for the new facility.
The first of two drop-in consultation events was held on Tuesday 21 August and allowed people to view outline proposals for the centre, give their views on the building’s design so far and ask questions about services.
Andy Williams, Director of Commissioning for the Black Country Cluster of Primary Care Trusts, said: “This is an exciting project for the people of Wednesbury and the public events are an opportunity for everyone to find out more and have a say on the next stage of the proposals and the building’s design. We’d like as many people from the community to get involved so they can let us know what they’d like their new facility to look like.”
A second consultation event will be held on 27 September to show updated designs and allow local people to have a say on how their new health centre could look.
