New look Board primed for success 1 May 2017

Prime has brought new expertise in at board level and reshaped the senior management of the business, to better meet the needs of its expanding portfolio of clients and boost its ability to attract and fund new projects.

Phil Holland joined Prime on 10 April 2017 as Chief Investment Officer to oversee the company’s growing portfolio of investments. Prime completed £350m of deals in 2016 and has 16 projects currently under construction. The company’s forward development pipeline – valued at £250million – spans primary care, hospitals and care homes.

Phil brings a wealth of experience to Prime, joining from his position as Deputy Managing Director and Finance Director of Primary Health Properties PLC, a leading investor in healthcare premises in the UK and Ireland. Phil has more than 20 years’ experience at Board level within both public and private investment, development and fund management companies across the UK and Europe. Phil has held a non-executive position with Network Homes, a major South East housing association for 8 years.

In addition to Phil’s appointment, the Prime board has also been restructured to ensure it makes the most of the expertise it has in place, in order to take the business forward. Richard Laing succeeds Stuart Chandler as Executive Chairman, and Leighton Chumbley steps up from his role as Managing Director of Prime (UK) Developments to become Prime’s new Chief Executive. Stuart Chandler will stay with the company as a non-executive director.

Richard Laing said: “We have a growing client base, including an increasing number of long term contracts, so it is important that we have the expertise at board level to excel in the changing landscape we are operating in. Phil is one of the most highly regarded investment professionals in healthcare and his appointment to the board will make a valuable contribution towards building on Prime’s success.

“Leighton has led the group’s development business since he joined Prime in 1998. His knowledge will be invaluable in his new position as Chief Executive and will be key to driving the business forward.”
