Local firms are the right prescription for surgery progress 8 August 2013

Three Worcestershire companies are delivering ‘just what the doctor ordered’ as work on the city’s new £4.5 million St Johns House Medical Centre continues apace.

Replacing an outdated facility, the area is being revived by Worcester-based specialist healthcare developer Prime and architects One Creative Environments Ltd in conjunction with GPs from the existing St John’s House Surgery. The contractor for the project is Worcestershire based Thomas Vale Construction.

Construction on the new building is progressing well with brickwork now up to first floor level and roofing for the central core nearing completion.

Bob Smaylen, Development Director at Prime comments: “While we are involved in the creation of first class medical facilities across the country, it is doubly rewarding to see the building taking shape on your doorstep.”

Plans for the centre, which will form part of the business, science, health and enterprise park being developed by the University of Worcester, were unanimously approved last year.

Construction is due for completion at the end of 2013 when patients will be able to enjoy much improved facilities
