Four GP surgeries serving Langley and Rood End could soon have new premises, allowing them to expand their service offering and improve access to essential health and social care services.
The design and development team involved in progressing the proposed health centre is asking the local community to input into the design process and the services for the new facility.
The drop-in consultation event on 7 June is open to everyone and will be held at Langley Lodge Community Centre between 3pm and 5pm and at Rood End Primary School between 6pm and 8pm. This will allow people to view outline proposals for the centre, give their views on the next stage of the building’s design and ask questions about services.
Following public consultation in 2010, the four GP practices have been working with the Black Country NHS Cluster and healthcare developer Prime plc to progress plans for a new health centre, which would allow patients to benefit from high quality, purpose-built facilities and improved access to health and social care services.
Current proposals are for the following practices to be located in one building to be built on the corner of Crosswells Road and Bloxcidge Street:
• Langley Partnerships for Health, (Dr Mehrez), The Surgery, Vicarage Road, Oldbury
• Rood End Medical Practice, Western Road, Oldbury
• Dr Naeem, 64 Dog Kennel Lane, Oldbury
• Dr Kaur, 118 Warley Road, Oldbury
Andy Williams, Director of Commissioning for the Black Country Cluster of Primary Care Trusts, said: “We’d ask everyone to come along to find out more and have a say on the next stage of the proposals. Plans are really starting to progress, with, we hope, a planning submission being made in the coming weeks. We would, therefore, really like to see as many people as possible from the community get involved so they can let us know what they would like their new building to look like.”
