Wexford
- Minister Brendan Howlin.
Set over 3,715sqm, a new primary care centre at the existing site of Grogan’s Road clinic in Wexford will offer more than 20,000 people access to GPs, community nurses, occupational therapy (OT), physiotherapy, addiction services, counselling, audiology and chiropody. Prime worked in collaboration with the Health Service Executive (HSE), Balfour Beatty and HICL Infrastructure Company Ltd to develop the plans utilising its extensive healthcare experience to recommend changes that would ensure innovation, quality, future proofing and best value for money.
Suggestions for improvements included direct external access to the OT rooms, as well as the provision of additional staff facilities. The main reception area was designed to increase seating for those waiting, provide disabled access and incorporate an entrance to a secure outdoor area for children, therefore enhancing the overall patient experience.
Other recommendations included moving the location of the psychology service to ensure more privacy and dignity for patients.
The delivery of the centre will mean that local people will have a high quality, community-based healthcare facility on their doorstep.
