Hodge Hill Primary Care Centre

Hodge Hill

We’ve had a lot of positive comments from the community about the design and from external community workers who absolutely love it! We’re now a real one-stop shop for healthcare and it’s great to have everyone working together on one site.

Hodge Hill Primary Care Centre

Commissioned by Birmingham and Solihull LIFT on behalf of NHS Birmingham East and North, the Hodge Hill Primary Care Centre brings together a range of healthcare and community services under one roof to enrich community wellbeing in a densely urban area of Birmingham.

The overgrown, abandoned site had become one of the area’s only open spaces, so the new development presented a need for strong local engagement. Working closely with the community, a protected oak tree has been kept on site and informs the shape of the building, while the interior design is bright and non-clinical, featuring striking wallflower motifs.

Designed to improve patient experience, the centre has been inspired by nature to form a ‘green oasis’ in the city, with a ‘natural’ theme that offers a more welcoming and creative approach to healthcare.

The centre provides GP services for 15,000 patients and flexible accommodation to enable the delivery of a range of primary care services, including district nursing, phlebotomy, podiatry, physiotherapy, health visiting, and a range of specialist clinics. The centre is also home to community dental services and health information counselling.
