Cobridge Community Health Centre and Integrated Sexual Health Unit

The scheme draws on a wealth of experience and learning across the public private partnership, which shows in the finished building. Patients have commented on how the design is a big improvement from what they’re used to and how well it fits within its setting. I’m proud to be part of the team that made this happen for Cobridge.

Cobridge Community Health Centre and Integrated Sexual Health Unit

Cobridge Community Health Centre and Integrated Sexual Health Unit (SHU) with Sexual Health Assault Referral Centre (SARC) is the result of a shared ambition to improve accessibility to primary, specialist and community care services.

Commissioned by Prima 200 LIFT on behalf of NHS Stoke on Trent, the 2,665 sqm health centre building not only provides GP services with adult physiotherapy, podiatry, occupational therapy, district nursing, health visiting and school nursing but also houses a specialist outpatients chest clinic, including a TB centre.

The second and 1,668 sqm sexual health unit building provides sexual health and family planning services. The region-wide SARC also operates from this building – a one-stop location where victims of sexual assault can receive medical care, emotional support and help with any subsequent police investigations. Previously hospital amenities, these enhanced services are now offered within the heart of the community that needs them.

Adjacent to an existing church, the site is innovatively designed to respect its neighbours and features a number of community artwork pieces, which embrace the area’s rich heritage while signposting a positive direction for the future.
