Boyle
- Senator Frank Feighan
Ireland’s Minister for Health, Simon Harris TD, got the Boyle Primary Care Centre project underway with an official sod turning in September 2016 and work is progressing well on the new 1,590sqm centre.
With client the Health Service Executive (HSE) having agreed the design and achieved planning, Prime’s expertise was used as an additional step to ensure innovation, quality and future-proofing of the design. The team was able to use its in-house expertise and experienced delivery team to identify improvements in key areas; such as the incorporation of additional facilities and improved room adjacencies to deliver operational efficiencies.
Amongst the changes recommended were the relocation of the children’s play area for increased security, moving a baby and parent room next to the play area and the addition of a sub-waiting area, improving space and comfort for building users.
Practical ‘behind the scenes’ revisions were also suggested, including a larger cleaning store and a re-design of the space for staff changing facilities, toilets and showers. These will ensure better day-to-day running of the centre and an improved working environment for staff.
When completed, the new Boyle Primary Care Centre will have a stylish exterior, blending cladding, render and glass to create a welcoming and modern appearance. Serving the 5,000 people of this thriving small town and the surrounding area, the new centre will provide a wide range of community-based services such as GP services, physiotherapy, community nursing, speech and language therapy, as well as dental and counselling services.
One of 14 primary care centres being delivered by consortium Prime Balfour Beatty HICL Infrastructure Company Ltd, It is anticipated that the new Boyle Primary Care Centre will be open to the public by the end of summer 2017.
