Stuart took on the role of Chairman of the Prime group in 2011 and since that time he has been using his experience to advise the group on funding and financial matters, as well as being responsible for corporate governance. In May 2017, Stuart moved to the position of Non-Executive Director.

My background in the financial sector allows me to advise the Prime group on all aspects of strategy and corporate governance.

Previous Experience

Stuart spent the first 22 years of his career with the Bank of England, including a two-year secondment to the Cabinet Office. He joined the National Westminster Bank in 1988, filling a number of senior roles which culminated in his appointment as Deputy Chief Executive of NatWest UK between 1994 and 1996. In 1997 he joined Hambros Bank as Executive Director and then Chief Operating Officer until its sale to Société Générale (“SG”) in 1998. After integrating Hambros with the UK business of SG, Stuart was appointed Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive of SG UK from 1999 until his retirement in 2004. Since retirement, Stuart has held a number of non-executive positions, including the Chairmanships of CAF Bank Ltd, Catley Lakeman Securities LLP and two pension funds. Stuart is also chairman of the Audit Committee.
