Washwood Heath Health and Wellbeing Centre

Commissioned by Prime’s LIFT partnership, BaS LIFT, on behalf of NHS Birmingham East and North, Washwood Heath Health and Wellbeing Centre is the result of a shared vision to improve engagement in community and clinical services.

The centre incorporates state-of-the-art healthcare facilities including an urgent care unit to serve a 100,000 catchment area, alongside a café, IT facilities and a public courtyard to create an inclusive, welcoming and safe environment that encourages improved wellbeing through an active community life. The building has been designed with flexibility front of mind, helping to maximise the utilisation of space. This includes suites of bookable rooms, which can be used out-of-hours and in isolation from the rest of the building. Other facilities include a welfare advice centre, family planning unit and orthopaedic triage and pain management clinics.

As a landmark building, the centre has been a catalyst for further regeneration, kick-starting residential development in the neighbouring area.
